More Product Info

A fire you can see from every seat in the room. Quick Facts • Viewing Area: 101″ wide × 21 5/8″ high, glass on three sides. • Fuel: Natural gas; propane conversion available. • Controls: Handheld remote with thermostat, timer, and program modes; wall switch and smartphone app options. • Lighting: Built-in interior lighting with a dimmer. Who It’s For A standard fireplace faces one direction, so the fire belongs to the couch in front of it and the rest of an open floor plan looks at a wall. You need a fire you can see from every seat. If you’re building or remodeling a great room and want the fireplace to anchor the whole space—wrapping the end of a wall so it reads from three directions at once—the Ortal Three Sided 98H is the one. Choose a single-sided unit instead and the fire stays a picture on one wall; choose this and it becomes the architecture. What Makes It Special The 98H puts more than eight feet of flame behind glass that wraps three sides of the fire. From the kitchen island, the dining table, or the far end of the sectional, you’re looking at fire, not at the side of a cabinet— the same fire, from every angle. The frameless European design lets your tile or stone run right to the edge of the glass, and Ortal’s passive cool-wall construction means you can hang a TV or artwork directly above the fireplace instead of leaving the wall bare. Because it’s a high-glass model, interior lighting is built in. Dim it to taste, or run the light with no flame at all , so the log set still glows on an evening too warm for a fire. Set the remote’s thermostat mode and the flame adjusts on its own to hold the room where you want it. Possible Downsides • It will not operate during a power outage; the lighting and controls run on a plug-in adapter. • The black reflective interior is optional, not included. • It ships set up for natural gas; propane requires a certified conversion kit installed by a qualified technician. If you want a fire the whole room can see—not just the seats facing it—the Three Sided 98H is the right decision. The open floor plan finally has its center, and it’s the room everyone ends up in. Choose a protective screen or double glass front; five included log styles—standard, weathered driftwood, refractory clay, and short or long English logs; add-on media from bonfire, campfire, and aspen logs to charred branches and single branches in black, grey, or white; and an optional black reflective interior.
