More Product Info
Nearly eight and a half feet of fire, wrapped around the corner of the room. Quick Facts • Viewing Area: 99 7/8″ wide by 15 3/4″ tall, wrapping the left corner. • Fuel: Natural gas (propane conversion available). • Controls: Handheld remote with thermostat modes; wall switch and app control available. Who It’s For A standard fireplace faces one direction, and in an open-plan room that means the fire disappears the moment you move past the corner. Half the seating gets the show; the other half gets a wall. You need a fire you can see from every seat. If you’re building or remodeling a large open space and you want the fireplace to be the architecture rather than an accent on one wall, the Ortal Corner Left Side 98 wraps the fire around the left corner of the room. Choose a flat, single-sided unit instead and the fire performs for one side of the room and turns its back on the other. What Makes It Special The glass turns the corner, so the same fire is in view from the sofa, the kitchen island, and the room beyond— nearly eight and a half feet of flame shared by two sides of the room . The design is frameless, which means your tile or stone runs right to the edge of the glass and the fireplace reads as part of the wall, not a box set into it . Above the fire, Ortal’s passive cool-wall technology keeps the finished wall around 125°F instead of stove-hot, so you can hang a TV or artwork directly above the fireplace . The corner carries the screen and the fire together, and the fire is the one people watch. Possible Downsides • The double glass and interior lighting versions need household power, so those configurations won’t run during a power outage. • This configuration wraps the left corner only; if your corner opens to the right, look at the Right Side 98. • The fire is a long, low ribbon at 15 3/4″ tall; the line’s high-glass versions run up to 29 9/16″ if you want a taller view. If you want a fire the whole open-plan room can see, the Corner Left Side 98 is the right decision. The corner it wraps becomes the room the house lives in. The look is yours to set: a protective mesh screen or double glass front; five included log styles—standard, weathered driftwood, refractory clay, and short or long English logs—plus optional bonfire, campfire, aspen, and charred-branch media, a black reflective interior, interior lighting, and a propane conversion.
