Why a pellet insert

Pellet Heat Inside the Fireplace You Have

A pellet insert puts a self-feeding pellet stove inside your open masonry fireplace. Pour pellets in the hopper, set the thermostat, and an auger feeds the fire for a day or more at a time. The heat goes into the room instead of up the chimney.

We carry pellet inserts from Osburn, Enviro, and Regency, and we size them honestly to the room. Two things to know going in: a pellet insert needs electricity for the auger and the blowers, and it rewards owners who keep up with a simple cleaning routine. If those fit how you live, pellet is steady, hands-off heat.

The honest note: Timber Ridge sells pellet inserts but doesn't service them. Our service bench is built around gas and wood, and we'd rather say so before the sale than after. We'll point you to a pellet-service option in the area.

Common Questions About Pellet Inserts

Tap any question to read the answer.

See all questions & answers
How does a pellet insert work?
A hopper holds the pellets, an auger feeds them into a small burn pot at the rate the thermostat calls for, and blowers push the heat into the room. The unit sits inside your masonry firebox with a liner up the chimney for the exhaust.
Does a pellet insert need electricity?
Yes. The auger, the igniter, and the blowers all run on house power. If heating through outages is the goal, a wood insert is the better fit, and we'll say so.
Does Timber Ridge service pellet inserts?
No. We sell pellet inserts but don't service them. Our service team covers gas and wood. We'll point you to a pellet-service option in the area before you buy.
Will a pellet insert fit your fireplace?
Most masonry fireplaces take a standard pellet insert. Measure the width, height, and depth of the opening, or send us photos, and we'll tell you what fits and what the hopper needs for clearance.
