Why an electric insert

New Life for a Firebox You Never Use

Plenty of homes have a masonry fireplace nobody lights. The wood is a hassle, the damper leaks, and the firebox sits dark. An electric insert fills the opening with a realistic flame you run from a remote, and it needs nothing but an outlet.

Modern Flames, Dimplex, Napoleon, and Amantii build electric inserts with flame effects that read as real from across the room, in log-set and linear styles. Most run the flame with or without heat, so the fireplace works in July too.

We'll be straight about the heat. An electric insert puts out about 5,000 BTUs on a standard outlet, which takes the edge off a room but won't replace a furnace. Our crew sets the insert, seals the damper, and finishes the face, and we coordinate a dedicated circuit when a model needs one.

What you get

Why Northern Utah Homeowners Choose Electric Inserts

Zero Venting

The insert needs nothing but an outlet, so any firebox qualifies.

Sealed Drafts

The insert closes off the damper leak that chills the room all winter.

Flame Without Heat

The flame effect runs on its own, so the fire works in July too.

Honest Sizing

We tell you what 5,000 BTUs will and won't do for your room.

“We replaced our old, outdated wood burning fireplace with an electric fireplace. We should have done this years ago--it looks absolutely amazing. It greatly improves the appearance of our condo.”

“Timber Ridge removed my wood burning fireplace and installed an electric fireplace...perfectly! The two installers were kind and meticulous about their work. My condo was left spotless. I can't recommend them more.”

—Jacqueline F. · Google review

“Hands down one of the best experiences we've had. No high pressure sales tactics or constantly trying to upsell us, it was all about making sure we were happy. Communication was on point and they handled all the details from demo to install.”

Common Questions About Electric Inserts

Tap any question to read the answer.

See all questions & answers
Are electric fireplace inserts worth it?
For a masonry fireplace you never light, yes. You get a realistic flame from a remote, the leaky damper gets sealed, and there's no gas line or chimney work. If you want real heat for the room, a gas or wood insert is the better tool.
How much heat does an electric insert put out?
About 5,000 BTUs on a standard outlet, which takes the edge off a living room or den. It's supplemental heat, not a furnace, and we'll say so before you buy.
Which electric inserts look the most realistic?
Modern Flames and Dimplex lead the lineup we carry. Both build flame effects with depth and ember detail that read as real from across the room. Come compare them side by side in the showroom.
Can an electric insert produce carbon monoxide?
No. There's no combustion. An electric insert makes flame with light and heat with an element, so there's nothing to vent and no carbon monoxide.
