If you’re building or remodeling and you want the fireplace to be the corner the whole room turns toward—visible from the sofa on one side and the kitchen or dining area on the other—the Ortal Corner Left Side 60 is the one. It builds into a framed wall, so it belongs in new construction or a remodel, not an existing masonry fireplace. Choose a standard flat unit instead and the fire disappears the moment you step out of its sightline. What Makes It Special The glass doesn’t stop at the wall—it wraps around the left side, so the fire reads as a sculpture in the room, not a picture on the wall. There’s no metal frame in the way, and the clean European design means your tile or stone runs right to the edge of the glass , so the finished wall looks like it was built around the fire, because it was. Above the fire, Ortal’s passive cool wall technology keeps the surface cool enough that a TV or artwork can hang directly above the flame —no mantel required, no deep setback, just the fire below and the screen above on the same clean wall. Possible Downsides • Left-side corner only —the glass wraps the left end of the wall; if your layout calls for the opposite corner, look at the Corner Right Side 60. • The double-glass version needs household power and won’t run during an outage; the screen version doesn’t share that limitation. • Interior lighting is an optional add-on on this model, not included.
