Ortal Oval 120 Suspended Gas Fireplace

The fire doesn’t go in the wall. It hangs in the room. Quick Facts • Fuel: Natural gas or propane. • Controls: Handheld remote with thermostat, timer, and eco settings; wall switch and app control available. • Log Media: Your choice of five included log set styles. Who It’s For Most fireplaces are built into a wall, and the room ends up arranged around the wall instead of the fire. When the fireplace is meant to be the centerpiece, setting it into drywall undersells it. You need a fire that stands on its own—an object in the room, not an opening in it. If you’re designing a space where the fireplace is the first thing anyone sees, the Ortal Oval 120 is that object: an oval gas fire suspended from the ceiling . A standard built-in will warm the room and blend in; this one is what the room gets built around. What Makes It Special The Oval 120 hangs. It doesn’t sit in a wall or on a hearth—it drops from the ceiling and holds the fire out in the open , framed in a smooth oval shell. The fire floats in the room the way a light fixture does, and everything else arranges itself around it. Living with it is push-button simple. Set a temperature on the remote and the fireplace holds the room there , adjusting the flame on its own; an eco setting modulates the flame between high and low to keep the warmth steady. A timer shuts it down on schedule, and wall-switch and app control are available if you’d rather run it from the sofa or your phone. Possible Downsides • Log and branch media only —there are no glass, stone, or crystal media options in the catalog. • The glass is fixed and dealer-serviced ; interior cleaning and the required annual inspection are dealer jobs, not homeowner ones. • The first 12 hours of burning cure the paint , leaving an odor and a white film on the glass that your dealer cleans off after break-in. If you want the fire to be the object the room is designed around, the Oval 120 is the right decision. The room it hangs in becomes the room the house lives in. Log media comes in five included styles—standard, weathered driftwood, refractory clay, and short or long English logs—with upgrade sets including bonfire logs with black ember, campfire logs, aspen logs, charred branches, and individual black, grey, or white branches.
