More Product Info

Five feet of log fire, without ever hauling wood. Quick Facts • Viewing Area: 60 1/8″ wide • Fuel: Natural gas or propane. • Controls: Remote with built-in thermostat; wall switch and app control optional. • Fan: None Who It’s For Most wide gas fireplaces make no secret of being gas—a ribbon of flame over glass pebbles, handsome but unmistakably an appliance. You need a fire that reads as burning logs at the scale of the wall it’s on. If you’re building or remodeling and want a fireplace that looks like a wood fire and works like a gas one, the Ortal Wilderness Front 60 is that fireplace. A standard linear unit will give you the width; this one gives you the width and the wood-fire look together . What Makes It Special The Wilderness burner is Ortal’s ceramic log technology, built to recreate an authentic hearth fire. Flames rise through and around detailed logs across the full width of the glass— a log fire more than five feet wide —so from the couch it reads as a fire someone built, not a burner someone switched on. The glass on any gas fireplace gets hot, so this one comes with your choice of two safety barriers. The protective screen is a mesh so fine it’s nearly invisible, preserving the view. The double glass option adds a second pane with quiet fans between the layers, so the outer glass stays far cooler —worth considering with kids or pets in the house. It’s built into a framed wall, so every installation ends with finish work like tile or stone running right up to the fire. Possible Downsides • The double glass option requires a standard outlet and won’t run during a power outage; the screen version doesn’t require one. • This is a log fire only—there’s no stone or glass media option on this model; for that look, see Ortal’s Front collection. If you want a gas fireplace with the look of a real log fire at this scale, the Wilderness Front 60 is the right decision. The room it’s in becomes the room the house lives in. Log sets come in Driftwood, Valley Oak, or Birch—each in natural gas or propane—and the barrier comes as a near-invisible protective screen or double glass, so the fire can match the room you’re building.
