If you’re building or remodeling and you want the fire to be the wall’s main event, with the TV hanging right above it, the Ortal Front Facing 77H is the one. Because it’s built into a framed wall, it belongs in new construction or a remodel, and the finish work is part of the job. Choose a standard-height linear instead and you get an accent; choose this and you get architecture . What Makes It Special The fire runs over six feet wide and nearly two feet tall behind Ortal’s high glass. The design is frameless, so your tile or stone runs right to the edge of the fire and it reads as part of the wall, not an appliance set into it . The wall above stays cool. Ortal’s Passive Cool Wall Technology means you can hang a TV or artwork directly above the fire —no mantel between them, no compromise on where the screen goes. Living with it is push-button simple. The remote holds the room at the temperature you set, a timer shuts the fire down on schedule, and the interior lighting dims from the remote—you can even run the light with no flame , so the logs still glow on a summer evening. Possible Downsides • The built-in lighting requires the AC adapter , so the fireplace won’t operate during a power failure. • Front-facing view only ; the fire is meant to be seen from one side of the room. • The black reflective interior is an option, not standard.
