Who It’s For A flat fireplace faces one direction. In an open room, that means the fire is a picture from the couch and a blank panel from everywhere else. You need a fire you can see from every seat . If your fireplace wall turns a corner on the right—between the living room and the kitchen, say—the Ortal Corner Right Side 68H puts glass on both faces of the corner , so the fire follows you around the room. A single-face unit looks fine head-on; this one is the one people notice from anywhere. What Makes It Special The glass turns the corner without a post or frame interrupting it. Ortal’s clean European design lets your finishing material—tile, stone, plaster—run right to the edge of the glass , so the fire reads less like an appliance and more like part of the architecture. The wall above it uses Ortal’s passive cool wall technology, which keeps it cool enough to hang a TV or artwork directly above the fire . No mantel needed as a heat shield, no rearranging the room around the fireplace. And because this is a High Glass model, interior lighting is built in. On a July evening you can run the lighting with no flame at all , and in January the remote’s thermostat holds the room where you set it— set 70 and it does the rest . Possible Downsides • Right-corner orientation only ; if your wall opens to the left, look at the Left Side 68H instead. • The double glass version requires household power and will not operate during a power outage. • The black reflective interior is an add-on , not standard. If you want the fire visible from two sides of the room instead of one, the Corner Right Side 68H is the right decision. The corner seat becomes the one everyone angles for. Choose a protective screen or double glass front, add the black reflective interior, and dress the fire with any of five included log sets—standard, weathered driftwood, refractory clay, or English short and long—or step up to the bonfire, campfire, aspen, charred branch, and single-branch sets in black, grey, or white.
