Who It’s For A flat fireplace faces one direction, so in an open-plan room half the seats get the fire and the other half get drywall. You need a fire you can see from two sides of the room . If you’re finishing an open living space—or a corner that has never had a job—and you want the fireplace to be the first thing people notice, that’s what the Ortal LS 51 was built for. A single-face unit will warm the room just fine; this one is the one people turn their chairs toward. What Makes It Special The glass turns the left corner with no frame and no post where the panes meet, and Ortal’s clean European design means your tile or stone runs right to the edge of the glass . From either side of the room, you see fire—not hardware. Above it, Passive Cool Wall Technology keeps the wall over the unit cool enough that a TV or artwork can hang directly above the fire , so the corner carries the flame and the wall carries the screen. Every LS 51 includes a heat barrier—choose a near-invisible protective mesh screen or a double-glass front —to reduce the risk of burns from the hot viewing glass, which matters in a house with kids or pets. Possible Downsides • Left-corner orientation only; if your room calls for the glass to wrap the right side, look at the RS 51. • The double-glass and interior-lighting versions require household power and will not operate during a power outage; the screen version doesn’t share that limitation. • Interior lighting is optional, not included, on this model.
