The fire that turns the corner. Quick Facts • Viewing Area: 62 7/8″ wide, wrapping the left corner. • Fuel: Natural gas; propane conversion available. • Controls: Remote with thermostat and dimmable interior lighting; wall switch and app control available. Who It’s For A flat fireplace faces one direction, and the seats around the corner get the side of a cabinet instead of the flame. You need a fire the whole room can see . If you’re building or remodeling a wall where two sightlines meet—the living room on one side, the kitchen or entry on the other—this is the unit made for that spot. It’s a zero-clearance fireplace, so it builds into a framed wall with your finish materials as part of the job. Pick a standard single-face unit and one side of the room always has its back to the fire; pick the Ortal Corner Left Side 60H and the flame wraps the corner where both rooms can watch it. What Makes It Special The glass wraps the left corner with no frame to interrupt it, and Ortal’s clean European design means your tile or stone runs right to the edge of the glass . Over five feet of fire, visible from the front and the side, reads as part of the wall rather than an appliance set into it. Passive cool wall technology keeps the wall above the fire cool enough that a TV or artwork can hang directly above it —the fire holds the room, and the wall above stays usable. As a high-glass model, it comes with internal lighting built in. Dim it from a glow to full brightness with the remote, or run the light with no flame at all on a mild evening. The same remote holds a thermostat: set 70 and the fire adjusts itself to keep the room there. Possible Downsides • It won’t run during a power outage. The lighting requires the plug-in power adapter, so the fireplace depends on household electricity. • The glass wraps the left corner only. If your wall calls for the fire on the right, look at the right-side 60H. • The black reflective interior is an option, not standard. If you want the fire visible from two sides of the room instead of one, the Corner Left Side 60H is the right decision. The corner you were going to fill with a bookshelf becomes the room everyone ends up in. The 60H comes with your choice of a protective mesh screen or double glass front, an optional black reflective interior, a propane conversion, and log media running from the included standard, weathered driftwood, refractory clay, and English log sets to add-on bonfire, campfire, and aspen logs, charred branches, and single branches in black, grey, or white.
