More Product Info
Turn the fireplace you already have into the heater for the whole main floor. Quick Facts • Heating Capacity: 1,000–2,200 sq ft • Efficiency: 70.3% (EPA, higher heating value). • Maximum Log Size: Up to 18″ • Fuel: Wood. • Controls: Side-mounted air control lever. • Fan: Included Who It’s For An open masonry fireplace looks inviting, but it pulls the warm air your furnace already paid for up the chimney, and the room cools as soon as the fire dies down. You need an insert that seals that opening and turns it into a real heater. If you want that heat behind a traditional cast iron face that suits a classic room, the Hampton Hi2450 is the one we’d point you to. Choose it and the fireplace you already have becomes the heat source for 1,000–2,200 square feet ; leave it open and most of the fire’s warmth keeps going up the flue. What Makes It Special The outside of the Hampton is cast iron, and it adds radiant heat on top of what comes off the fire. Cast iron soaks up heat and gives it back to the room the way the sun warms your face , so you feel it on the couch and not just in the air. Inside, a brick-lined firebox reflects heat back into the fire, and it takes 18″ logs , so standard-cut firewood goes in without trimming. Living with it is simple. One side-mounted lever sets the air. An air wash sweeps the inside of the glass, so you see the fire, not soot , and heavy-duty cast hinges with a forged steel cam lock keep the door sealed tight year after year. A matching two-speed fan pushes the warm air out of the fireplace and toward the rest of the room. The power outlet can be moved from the left side to the right to suit your hearth. Possible Downsides • Efficiency is 70.3%, below the 77% of the Hampton Hi500 hybrid. If longer, cleaner burns matter most, look at the Hi500. • The fan runs on household power. In an outage the fire keeps burning and the cast iron keeps radiating, but the fan stops. • The look is traditional cast iron only, in black or brown enamel. For a flush, contemporary front, see the Regency Alterra Ci1150 or Pro-Series Ci2700. If you’re tired of a fireplace that looks warm but sends its heat up the chimney, the Hampton Hi2450 is the right decision. The room you used to walk past becomes the one everyone ends up in. Choose metallic black or timberline brown enamel, a regular or oversize cast iron faceplate, and a decorative cast iron grille to finish the face.
