More Product Info

Real wood heat from the fireplace you already have, run with one lever. Quick Facts • Heating Capacity: 1,000–2,200 sq ft • Efficiency: 70.3% (EPA, higher heating value). • Maximum Log Size: Up to 18″ • Fuel: Wood. • Controls: Side-mounted air control. • Fan: Optional Who It’s For An open fireplace feels warm when you sit close to it, but much of that heat goes up the chimney, and the rest of the house can feel cooler once the fire dies down. You need an insert that closes off the opening and turns your wood into heat for the rooms you actually use. If you have a standard-size masonry fireplace and want simple wood heat with one air control and no catalytic combustor to look after, the Regency Classic i2450 is the one. It installs into an existing masonry fireplace, not a factory-built metal one. Choose it and the fireplace heats the house. Leave the opening as it is and most of the fire keeps going up the chimney. What Makes It Special The medium firebox loads front to back or side to side , so you can lay 18-inch logs whichever way the fire needs them. Regency rates it for 1,000 to 2,200 square feet of heat, enough for a living room and the rooms that open onto it. At 70.3% efficiency, most of the wood you load becomes heat in your room. The firebox is lined with brick that reflects heat back into the room, and the ceramic glass door radiates heat while you watch the fire. A sweep of air across the inside of the glass helps keep it clean, so you see the flames, not soot . You set the fire with one side-mounted air lever, and there is no catalytic combustor to engage or maintain. If you want the heat to reach farther, add the optional two-speed fan. It has an automatic heat sensor that turns the fan on and off at set temperatures, so it pushes warm air out into the house without you having to manage it. Possible Downsides • No catalytic combustor, and lower efficiency than the hybrid model ; if you want longer, more efficient burns from the same size firebox, look at the Cascades i2500, rated 78%. • The two-speed fan is optional , not included, and it runs on household power. If you want real wood heat from your existing fireplace without a catalytic combustor to manage, the Classic i2450 is the right decision. The fireplace you used to sit close to becomes the room everyone ends up in. Choose a black or nickel-accent cast iron door, a regular or oversize black backing plate, nickel convection grilles, a bottom fascia, and the two-speed fan to finish it the way you want.
