More Product Info

Four feet of open fire, and no propane tank in sight. Quick Facts • Heating Capacity: Designed for ambiance, not as a heat source. • Viewing Area: Open fire, visible from every seat. • Fuel: Natural gas or propane. • Controls: Battery-powered igniter with adjustable flame height; smartphone control optional. • Fan: None Who It’s For A patio fire feature usually comes with a catch: a propane tank parked beside it with a hose running across the pavers. You need a fire feature that looks like sculpture and hides its own fuel. If you want one piece that anchors the whole patio—chairs circled around it, no plumbing in the picture—the American Fyre Designs 48″ Fire Bowl is that piece. Pick a smaller bowl and the tank sits beside it; this one keeps it out of sight . What Makes It Special The bowl is handcrafted from glass fiber reinforced concrete—concrete strengthened with glass fiber and acrylic polymer—so it has the mass and texture of carved stone and it’s built to sit outside through every season. Here’s the practical difference: an access door in the base hides a full 5-gallon propane tank inside the bowl . Of the fire bowls in this line, the 48″ is the one that stores its own fuel—the smaller sizes can’t. No hose across the deck, no tank posing as a side table. The standard control is a battery-powered igniter with flame sensing: if the flame ever goes out, the gas shuts off on its own . Step up to the optional smartphone control and you can run the fire from your phone—on, off, high, low—with two USB ports for charging; it needs 120V power at the bowl. Possible Downsides • Designed for ambiance, not rated to heat a defined area—an open fire warms the seats closest to it. • Smartphone control is an extra-cost option that requires 120V power at the bowl, and the propane tank is sold separately. • No cover is included; a fitted vinyl cover is optional, and if you want a flush tabletop cover, look at the 48″ Chat Fire Bowl instead. If you want one piece that makes the patio the destination—and no propane tank in the picture—the 48″ Fire Bowl is the right decision. Evenings that used to end at sunset start ending around the fire instead. The 48″ Fire Bowl comes in seven finishes—White Aspen, Café Blanco, Black Lava, Smoke, Travertine, Dark Basalt, and Light Basalt—and takes your choice of fire media, from Fyre Glass and reflective glass to Fyre Gems, Diamond Nuggets, creekstones, river rock, lava stone, gas log sets, and Fyre Spheres, with an optional fitted vinyl cover.
