Napoleon Astound SlimMount NEFL42AS Electric Fireplace

A fireplace that fits inside a standard wall—no gas line, no venting, no bumped-out framing. Quick Facts • Heating Capacity: 150–250 sq ft • Viewing Area: 42 1/8″ × 12 3/8″. • Fuel: Electric. • Controls: Remote with thermostat and 7-day schedule; more settings through the Napoleon Home app and voice control with Google Home and Alexa. • Fan: Included Who It’s For You’ve got the wall picked out, but a traditional fireplace there means a gas line, a vent run, and framing that eats into the room. You need a fireplace that fits inside the wall you already have . If you want a wide linear fire as the focal point of a bedroom, den, or office—hung on the wall or set flush into it—the Astound SlimMount 42 is the one. Choose a deeper unit instead and you’re building out the wall to hide it. What Makes It Special The whole unit is four inches deep , so it recesses into a standard framed wall without excessive construction, or mounts on the surface with barely any projection. Edge panels and trim come in the box for either install, and it plugs into an outlet or can be hardwired. Recessing still means opening the wall, so count that as part of the job. The fire earns the spot. The flame effect mimics the movement of a real fire, and the tinted, anti-glare glass means you see the flames, not your lamp reflected back. There are 13 top light and ember color options on the remote and more through the Napoleon Home app, and the included remote runs everything—on/off, thermostat, 7-day schedule, flame, ember bed, and top lights. The heat is real, too—enough for a bedroom or a den. ECO mode runs at half heat and uses less energy; BOOST runs the heater at maximum with the fan turned up for a cold morning. It’s backed by a 3-year registered warranty . Possible Downsides • The heater warms one room, not the house. Figure roughly 150–250 square feet of comfort heat—it supplements the furnace, it doesn’t replace it. • It needs its own dedicated circuit. A dedicated 15 amp grounded circuit is required, so an electrician may be part of the install. • The colored glass ember kits are optional, not included. The fireplace ships with woodland glass; amber, black, blue, clear, red, and topaz embers are add-ons. If you want a fire on the wall without a construction project, the Astound SlimMount is the right decision. The wall you used to walk past becomes the room everyone ends up in. Media options run from the included woodland glass to optional glass ember kits in amber, black, blue, clear, red, and topaz and a black crystal kit, with flame colors in orange, yellow, or both, and an optional wall mount controller with a black or white faceplate.
