Napoleon Ascent Linear Premium BLX42 Gas Fireplace

A long, modern fire built for the rooms most linears would overheat. Quick Facts • Heating Capacity: 500–1,000 sq ft • Viewing Area: 35″ • Fuel: Natural gas or propane (conversion kit available). • Controls: Full-function remote with thermostat, flame, fan speed, and top lights; app control available. • Fan: Included Who It’s For Most linear gas fireplaces are built for big, open rooms, and in an ordinary living room they put out more heat than you want—you end up shutting the fire off just as the evening settles in. You need a linear fire sized for the room you actually have . If you want the long, modern fire in a living room, den, or bedroom without being cooked off the couch, the Ascent Linear Premium 42 is the one. Pick an oversized linear instead and you’ll spend the winter turning the fire down instead of enjoying it. What Makes It Special This is the linear fire built for smaller spaces . It warms roughly 900–1,800 square feet—a living room and the space around it, not a great hall—and the included fan pushes that warmth to the far side of the room instead of leaving it at the glass. The remote runs everything from the couch: on and off, flame height, fan speed, and a thermostat that holds the room where you set it. The detail people notice is the top lighting : built-in lights above the fire that illuminate the logs or glass from overhead, giving the display a depth that flame alone doesn’t have. You control the lights from the same remote, or from your phone with the app. And when the power goes out, it still lights —the battery backup keeps the fire available when the furnace and the lamps are not, as long as you’ve kept batteries in it. Possible Downsides • The log set or media is a separate required choice —driftwood, birch, split oak, or a beach fire set—so plan for it when you plan the unit. • Reduced mantel clearances require the optional Universal Heat Management System ; without it, a combustible mantel needs the standard clearances. • Battery backup takes four AA batteries, not included ; keep fresh ones in it if lighting the fire during an outage matters to you. If you want a linear fire that fits the room instead of overpowering it, the Ascent Linear Premium 42 is the right decision. The room it’s in becomes the room the house lives in. Make it yours with driftwood, birch, or split oak logs, a beach fire set, glass beads or embers in a range of colors, mineral rock, shore fire, and woodland media kits, ledgestone or reflective black porcelain panels, and a black finishing trim.
