What Makes It Special The flame is the whole product: a fine mist of water vapor lit by LEDs, rising and curling through a charred log set in three dimensions. Dimplex patented it, and calls it the world’s most realistic 3D electric flame effect —there’s real depth to it, flames moving among the logs the way a wood fire does, with optional crackling fire sound to match. It reads as fire from across the room, not as a screen. And it never needs refilling. The e-MatriX connects directly to a water line , so the flame runs continuously without a reservoir to top up, and an overflow sensor shuts the water off automatically to prevent leaks. Surfaces stay cool to the touch, which is why it works in living rooms with kids and pets as well as in commercial spaces. Possible Downsides • No heat at all —this is a flame effect only; if you want the fire to warm the room, look at a heating fireplace instead. • Requires a water line connection —plumbing to the fireplace location is part of the installation, and our team scopes that at the in-home preview. • Sensitive to moving air —like a candle, drafts, vents, and ceiling fans can disturb the flame, so placement matters. If you want the fire without the heat, every month of the year, the Optimyst e-MatriX is the right decision.
