Dimplex Ignite Bold 88 Electric Fireplace

Seven feet of flame, indoors or out. Quick Facts • Heating Capacity: 0–500 sq ft • Viewing Area: Just over 86 inches of flame, edge to edge. • Fuel: Electric. • Controls: Mobile app, remote, or built-in hidden touch controls—thermostat, flame themes, and a timer up to 8 hours. • Fan: Included Who It’s For A standard-size fireplace on a big wall reads like a porthole—a modest window of flame with a lot of empty wall on either side. You need a fire scaled to the wall , not a box set into it. If you’re finishing a great room, a media wall, or a covered patio and you want the fire to be the first thing people notice, the Dimplex Ignite Bold 88 is the one. A smaller unit will warm the room just fine; this is the one that makes the wall the point of the room. What Makes It Special The flame runs the full width of the glass—no louvers, no frame, over seven feet of edge-to-edge fire . A multi-layered color effect gives the flames real depth, and an ambient light sensor adjusts the firebox to the room the way your phone screen dims at night , so the fire looks right at noon and at midnight. Here’s the part most electric fireplaces can’t offer: it’s certified for outdoor use under a covered patio or overhang. The same fire that anchors the living room can anchor the deck. One unit installs front-facing, in a corner, or as a three-sided bay , and the heat is separate from the show—quiet fan-forced warmth on a winter night, or flame alone in July for pennies a night. Possible Downsides • The heat is supplemental —enough to warm the room it’s in, not a replacement for your furnace. • Hardwiring is the standard installation ; a plug kit is an optional accessory, not included in the box. • Outdoor installations carry a 1-year warranty instead of the 5-year indoor warranty, and require overhead cover. If you want the fire to be the first thing people notice—inside or out—the Ignite Bold 88 is the right decision. The wall you’re planning becomes the room everyone ends up in, January game nights and June dinners on the patio alike. Flame and ember bed colors adjust independently or through five presets over a driftwood-and-crystal media bed, and an optional plug kit and linking kit—for running multiple units end to end—round out the options.
