Go the conventional route instead and you’re into venting, gas work, and permits before the fire ever lights. What Makes It Special The fire is the point. A 3D flame effect with mirrored rear glass gives the flames real depth, cast urethane logs glow from the inside, and the ember bed pulses underneath like a fire that’s been burning all evening . Operable mesh screens sit across the front the way they would on a wood fireplace, so from the couch it reads as a fireplace, not a video of one. It also works in July: run the flame without the heat on a summer night, or add heat when it’s cold. The fan-forced heater runs when you ask and only then, and the louver-less face means no grille work breaking up the finish around it. Electrical components carry a two-year limited warranty. There’s no chimney and no gas line—the unit wires directly into the house, and wired for 240 volts it puts out nearly twice the heat of standard wiring.
